Stop complaining

Human beings have this tendency to complain. We are always ready to lash out words against the establishments, the people around us and the system around us. There are always weaknesses for us to complain about. But what do we gain by complaining?

We may be complaining about the work that need to be done. After complaining about the work on hands, does the work disappear from existence? The work is still there and we must drag our feet to work on it.

Hence, just stop complaining, and get the job done. Hopefully we will wise up and don't give in to unnecessary work. Perhaps, we should be taking more proactive steps to address the root cause of the complaints, than complaining about the work/problem.

Health 101

When we are healthy, we seldom cherish our health. When we are down with some disease, we tend to think of ways cure the disease. What is the best way to have good health? Simple answer (in no particular order): (1) Sufficient and good quality rest; (2) Stress management; (3) Diet; (4) Sufficient exercise; (5) Emotional health; (6) Spiritual health.

How do define good health? What else is important for good health? Why good health is required when we know everybody will eventually die?

Is sketching a creative process?
Is doing 3D graphics a creative process?

Why we need to be creative?
To be creative is to live out the image that God has given to human kind.

This is copied from my lecture notes. Let this be our standard. This lecture note is based on 1 Cor. 6:9C-11, 13b, 18a)

Immorality is sex before marriage with ANYONE.
Immorality is sex with anyone but your SPOUSE.
Immorality is any sexual activity (except spouse) with a man, woman, or CHILD.
Immorality is is sexual activity with anyone or anything except your SPOUSE.
Immorality is having lustful THOUGHTS.
Immorality is seeking anything for sexual AROUSAL.
Immorality is looking on nakedness (except spouse) for PLEASURE

A self assessment:

How would you evaluate your sexual behaviour during the last six months?
Have you been sexually pure or impure?
Have you pursue either directly or indirectly sexual arousal or pleasure with anyone or anything except your married partner?
If you are not married, are you practising celibacy until you are married?

Burnout Pastors…

I have been a Christian of 8 years old. Through the years, God has put some pastors into my life. Among these pastors, some gave a great impact to me. These faithful workers live such a dynamic life for God. They are always staying in touch with God, they are charisma in a sense that makes me feel comfortable to talk with them and to open up to share my personal struggles with them.

It was when I first became Christian that God put such lovely and faithful pastors and full time workers in my life. I was so blessed by God to have the privilege to be nurtured and discipled by them. For their lives, I can see how abundant and how beautiful a Christian’s life can be. In their services to God, they are always filled with joy and love.

After some years of being with these faithful Christian workers, God led me to grow in [place] as I pursued my further study. From then on, God sent different pastors and full time workers around me. There were so many burnout and tired pastors and co-workers. There is no joy and love in the way they talked and served. Sometimes I felt they were just ‘yinzhou’ (a Chinese term meaning “entertaining”) you every week when they meet you by asking the same frequently-asked questions (FAQ). The weekly sermon sounded like lectures and moral lesson class to me, there was no spiritual satisfaction of being fed with God’s words and truth to me. I started to question God, why these pastors were so different from those back in my hometown? Why they looked so tired, joyless and mechanical?

God is so kind and gracious to me. I slowly learned to be humble and respect my pastors with weakness. I understand it is not easy to be a pastor. Despite complaining about them, God want me to support them in prayer. One thing that I realized is the strength of a pastor correlates with his dependency upon God. If a pastor stay close with God, he will not be easily distracted by the busyness of church activities or ministries. Besides, it is very important for a pastor to know the Master whom he serves rather than people. To all my dear pastors, in times of burnout, it would be good for you to take a rest and nap at Jesus’ lap, let Him calms you soul, recharges you so that you can move on again!!

How can pastor/church workers regain their spiritual vitality to continue serving?

Tandem Walk

Today is the day http://tandemwalk.blogspot.com/ is created. This blog will stash my thoughts, rambling, questions and resources. I will slowly build up this blog for discipleship stuff.

Tandem means walking side by side. Therefore, it is about walking side by side in term of discipleship.

" [ fill in ] one at a time" [fill in] field can be filled with stuff like: Changing life, impacting life, Transforming life... Perhaps I shall brainstorm a bit more about this.
